Format & Tie Breaker Procedure

Valid USGA/WHS/GHIN handicaps are required to play in the Invitational. Players must have a minimum of 10 rounds posted over the past 12 months prior to the event. Anyone without a valid handicap will play at 0.

Throughout the Invitational there will be 5 nine-hole matches within your flight.  The overall flight winner will be the team who has accumulated the most points from matches.

Each match will be one best-ball of the twosome, played off the low ball in the group.  Each hole within each match is worth one point, with a total of nine points available for a single match.  In the event that a hole is tied, each team will be awarded a half point, and all ties will be broken by the results of a head-to-head match.  The winner of a match will receive an additional point. Should the match be halved, the result will be 5-5.

TIE BREAK PROCEDURE - DETAILED

Shoot-Out Format

The shoot-out will be an alternating shot format.  There will be a total of Fifteen teams determined by the following:

  • Each of the 10 flight winners

  • The 2 teams with the most points from the second day

  • The 2 teams with the highest point total not to win their flight

  • 1 Raffle winner (we will run a 50/50 raffle awarding a spot into the shootout. Tickets will be sold each day)

Shoot-out will be played on holes #1,910,17 and 18.

  • #1 - 6 teams will be eliminated

  • #9 - 4 teams will be eliminated

  • #10- 2 teams will be eliminated

  • #17 and #18 - 1 team will be eliminated

This will be a true alternate shot, which would include any tie breaking chip-offs.  Rotation is determined on the first hole. If your partner makes the final putt you will tee off on the next tee, or in the event of a tie-breaking chip off you would then be the chipper.  This will be handicapped.  The average handicap between the two players will be used.

Strokes will be determined as follows:

  • 0-5 hdcp = 0 strokes

  • 6-10 hdcp = 1 stroke

  • 11-15 hdcp = 2 strokes

  • 16-20 hdcp = 3 strokes

  • 21+ hdcp = 4 strokes

Starting on hole 10 of the shootout, there is no more continuous putting and standard putting honors will apply to holes 10, 17 and 18.

A tie on the 18th hole will result in both teams replaying the 18th hole. The teams will continue to replay the 18th hole until a winner is crowned.

Below are rules for the Invitational shootout - Chip Off

  1. Prior to each chip-off, TCC Pro (Victor) will ask the crowd, in the interest of fairness to the competitors, to refrain from any comments, clapping or responses to each chip. Obviously, we cannot control the crowd but a statement prior to the chip-off is the best we can do.

  2. Any teams in a chip-off will be immediately disqualified if a member of the same team in a shootout says anything about a prior chip in the chip-off or if the person hitting the chip turns around to see the location of a chip prior to be instructed to turnaround by TCC Pro (Victor).

Thursday Night Event

Format:  Stampede Shootout

  • 6-man teams (playing alternate shot)

  • 10 teams begin on Hole #1 and 10 teams begin on Hole #10. 5 are eliminated from each hole leaving 10 total teams remaining.

  • Both groups of 5 meet on hole #17 where 7 teams will be eliminated.

  • The final 3 teams will play hole #18 to determine the winner

Inclement Weather Policy

In case of inclement weather during the Invitational...

Thursday (practice round)

  • The stampede must start no later than 6:00 p.m. in order to officially take place. If the shootout cannot begin before 6:00 p.m. then there will be no stampede.

Friday (day 1, 2 matches to be played)

  • We will do everything that we can to get 2 matches played on this day. Dinner is scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m. and we will push dinner back to 8:00 p.m. at the latest to accommodate the playing of both matches.

Saturday (day 2, 2 matches to be played with Championship Shootout after)

  • If the 5th and final match is not scheduled to be completed leaving ample time to complete the Championship Shootout on Saturday, the last match will be canceled. The leader of each flight after 4 matches will advance to the Championship Shootout. In the case of a tie within the flight after 4 or 5 matches are played we will proceed under the following guidelines…

  1. If the two teams have played each other in a head to head match, the winner of that match will move on to the Championship Shootout.

  2. Teams that are tied but have not played a head to head match will play 1 hole sudden death matches. Teams will use full handicaps with the lowest handicap player playing at zero and the rest of the players receiving the difference between them and the lowest player. 1 best ball of the twosome will count as the team's score and the lowest score wins the hole. Handicap strokes will fall as the course is rated.

  3. The playoff hole to be played will be randomly selected using holes 1, 9, 10 & 18. These holes will be played in the above order until a winner is determined.

  4. In the event we run out of time for sudden death playoff holes we will have a chip off on hole 18 to determine the winner.

In the event there is inclement weather and the entire event is not able to be played, a stableford scoring system (1 point bogey, 2 points par, 4 points birdie, 6 points eagle or better) will be used to determine flight winners.  The stableford scoring system will be based on the net best ball score for each nine holes completed.  In the event of a flight tie, a chip off will occur (weather depending) or a card back from the lowest handicap hole played.  All bets placed on flight winners, trophies and shop credit will be paid based on this scoring system.  If the shootout is still able to go on, all shootout participants will be determined using this scoring system and then bets paid accordingly for shootout winners.

If the shootout is unable to be played because of inclement weather, all bets placed on shootout will be paid back in full.

Note: Due to this policy, it is required that one(1) score be posted per hole per team or the score for that hole will be zero(0).
